Overview

Reporting to the Head of Compliance Monitoring, the Safety and Compliance Manager coordinates the activities for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of an efficient Safety Management System (SMS) and is responsible to liaise with the National Aviation Authorities for regulatory compliance matters in SR Technics Malta.

The performance of the SMS is monitored against set standards to ensure safe operations, legal compliance and customer satisfaction. S/He aligns and coordinates with the organisation all activities regarding safety policies and objectives, hazard identification and risk management, safety & quality assurance and change management to allow continued and uninterrupted business operation by ensuring organisation's system safely. 

The Safety and Compliance Manager ensures valid authority approvals and standards that support SR Technics Malta in executing the relevant privileges. Additionally, s/he is responsible for the development and management of the SR Techcnics Process Framework by applying defined standards, systems and process visualization.

Main tasks

  • To promote a positive safety culture and to ensure that safety and quality policy is communicated/promoted and implemented within the organisation
  • To ensure all elements of the SMS are properly implemented, maintained and continuously improved by fulfilling all SMS related duties and responsibilities as defined by SMS manual
  • Escalates safety shortfalls/deviations at earliest possible stage
  • To coordinate Safety Management System activities and standardization initiatives within SR Technics Malta
  • Ensure compliance with applicable civil aviation regulations and international standards and obtains the necessary National Aviation Authority (NAA) approvals
  • To support leadership team in design, implementation and maintenance of safety management system strategy
  • To manage and continually improve the SR Technics SMS manual, corresponding processes and work instructions 
  • To develop, implement and maintain hazard portfolio and risk management tools for system safety of SR Technics Malta
  • To conduct SMS and regulatory compliance monitoring audits in SR Technics Malta
  • To ensure that the process landscape, maintenance organisation exposition (MOE), standards and procedures requires to govern the airworthiness compliance standards are maintained, developed and continuously improved. 
  • To analyze technical data for trends related to hazards, events, occurrences and non-compliances including reporting to the SR Technics Malta leadership team
  • To promote flight safety and system safety of SR Technics Malta through safety communication channels and training programs
  • Supports and facilitates authority audits by liaising with affected departments
  • To administer the safety and audit data base of SR Technics Malta
  • Authorizes requests for Company Authorizations, ensures that the process of monitoring the validity of certifying staff licenses and company authorizations is developed and maintained 
  • Engage in any other task assigned by the Company.

Position Key Accountabilities

Safety: To ensure that all elements of the SMS are properly implemented, maintained and continuously improved by fulfilling all SMS related duties and responsibilities as defined in the SMS manual

Quality: To promote a positive quality culture and to ensure that the Safety and Compliance Monitoring Policy is communicated/promoted and implemented within the Organisation

Delivery: Govern SMS manual and associated processes, ensures that expositions, procedures and processes are kept current and effective. Ensures SMS and regulatory compliance monitoring audits

Cost: Govern effectiveness of root cause analysis, preventive and corrective actions pertaining to Safety and Quality

People: Promote SMS-campaigns, communications and training programs. Promotes SMS hazard portfolio and risk management tools of SR Technics Malta

5S: Ensures that all 5S standards are adhered with at all times in his/her assigned areas. 

Position Key Requirements and Competencies

  • Technical / Engineering education or similar
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
  • Knowledge and experience in lean continuous improvement tools and methodologies
  • Proven track record of risk, change, and project management
  • Good social, communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Fluent in English (Level C1), any other language is an add on.
