Overview

 

The Facility and Security Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the facility and to manage all projects related to the facilities. The position holder is also responsible for the security of the facility and ensuring that the infrastructure is safe, the facilities meet the compliance levels expected by the industry and is appropriate for the Company to be able to operate its business. The position holder will be expected to coordinate between various departments, manage a team of people, liaise and manage external contractors and deal with regulatory organisations and client requests.

Main Tasks

  • To promote a positive Safety Culture and to ensure that Safety and Quality Policy is communicated/promoted and implemented within the organisation.
  • To ensure that all elements of the SMS are properly implemented, maintained and continuously improved by fulfilling all SMS related duties and responsibilities as defined in the SMS manual.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of the facility's infrastructure, including hangars, workshops and office spaces as well as the maintenance, repair and operations of all building systems including HVAC.
  • Ensure the facility meets all relevant aviation and safety standards. This involves regular audits and coordinating with regulatory bodies.
  • Manage the budget for facility maintenance and upgrades, including cost analysis and forecasting.
  • Lead and supervise the maintenance team, including hiring, training and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialised maintenance tasks and negotiating contracts including the management of contracts to ensure quality and cost-efficiency.
  • Implement and oversee safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for the facility.
  • Oversee the maintenance of facility equipment, ensuring they are operational and compliant with standards.
  • Optimise the use of space within the facility to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement environmentally sustainable practices within the facility.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities meet the quality standards required in the aviation industry.
  • Regularly communicating and work closely as necessary with other departments, management, and external stakeholders to ensure facility needs are met.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies to protect the organisation's assets, including physical, digital and human resources.
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of security systems, such as surveillance cameras, access control systems and alarm systems.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness for various security incidents.
  • Engage in any other related activity as may be directed from time to time

  • 5S: Manage and keep housekeeping of the assigned working area and / or office under his/her responsibility.

Educational Qualifications

  • A qualification at MQF Level 6, preferably at MQF Level 7, in Facilities Management, Building Services, Engineering, Business or a related field.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5-years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the aviation or aerospace industry would be preferable
